Which P90X3 workout kit should you choose?

P90x3 (the new version of P90X) comes in three delicious “flavors” namely: the Base, the Deluxe, and the Ultimate.

What are the differences and which should you choose?

That will depend on your needs, but the table below should help to simplify the differences.

I have the base package, read below to find out why it may or may not be the right kit for you.

P90X3 Base Kit

This is the kit I own and enjoy.

The Base Kit includes

  • 16 30-minute workouts
  • Fitness Guide
  • Nutrition Plan
  • Workout Calendar
  • The “How to Accelerate” DVD

Is this the kit for you?

It could be if you already have a pull-up bar or stretchy bands.

I have the pull-up bar and bands, so I didn’t need the other equipment.

If you have a pull-up bar or bands, you’ll want to look into the options below because you really do need either the pull-up bar or the bands (works out better if you have both, but more on that in a second).

P90X3 Deluxe Kit

This kit includes the items from the base package:

  • 16 30-minute workouts
  • Fitness Guide
  • Nutrition Plan
  • Workout Calendar
  • The “How to Accelerate” DVD

But the Deluxe Kit also includes

  • 3 additional Elite workouts
  • Elite Block Calendar
  • 3 Pro-Grade Resistance Bands
  • E&E Energy and Endurance Pre-workout formula (1-Month Supply)

Is this the right kit for you?

It is if you want the resistance bands and want to try out the energy formula.

The benefit of this package is that it has the 3 Additional workouts. I really wish the Base kit had these workouts. It’s almost enough to get the Deluxe even if you have your “stretchy” bands. The key workout missing from the Base is the P90x3 Ab Ripper Workout.

Since we already had P90x and P90, we didn’t opt for this package (price was also a factor), but I really do wish the ab ripper workout was with the base package.

So if you’re on the fence, and don’t have the ab ripper workout from p90x, I’d recommend this package.

Hey, don’t tell anyone else, well, okay, tell friends you like, but… You can get the three additional workouts including the p90x3 Ab Ribber as a separate disk, and it’s cheaper buying that and the base package together than if you were to buy the deluxe package.

If you don’t need the bands and one-month supplement supply, choose the base package and the standalone DVD that has the Complex Upper, Complex Lower and X3 Ab Ripper Workouts here.

P90X3 Ultimate Kit

Wow, you’re serious about this aren’t you?

The P90X3 includes the items from the base plus the new items in the deluxe pack (Ab ripper DVD, resistance bands, Pre-workout supplement).

In addition to those, the Ultimate Kit includes the following that the other packages don’t have:

  • Premium Beachbody Jump Mat,
  • Gym-Quality P90X Chin-Up Bar,
  • P90X Chin-Up Max
  • P90X Results and Recovery Formula Post-workout Drink (1-Month Supply)

Is the Ultimate Kit for you?

If you don’t have the pull-up bar and bands, then yes, the kit is the right one.

Here’s why, the bands are more than adequate for lifting weights. In the videos, there’s always someone using the bands when the others use weights. I use the bands I already had, but if you don’t have any, you’ll get so much more out of the workout if you go get some bands, or order them with the kit.

Regarding the pull-up bar, you’ll need it.

When I did P90 and P90X, I didn’t have a pull-up bar (I got one part way through P90x). Hooking the bands into the corner of a door frame works, okay, but you don’t feel it like when you have a pull-up bar. You’re lifting your whole body with the pull-up bar, and it’s much more rigorous compared to using the bands as a pull-up substitute.

The bands can work for pull-ups, don’t get me wrong, but the pull-bar really works your muscles, and I’m so glad I got one. I also started to wonder about the stress I was putting on the door frame with the bands. Use the bands for the weight lifting portion. They work wonders there.

A pull-up bar is a must have. So if you already have one, great. If not, go with the ultimate package which also gets you the coveted (okay I’m coveting here) Ab Ripper and other two additional workouts.

Amazon Customer Reviews of the P90X3 Ultimate Kit

In summary, if you have a pull-up bar already and some bands, get the Base P90X3 Kit.

If you have a pull-up bar, but need bands and want the Ab ripper, get the Deluxe P90X3 Kit.

If you want it all… get the Ultimate P90X3 Kit.

All three options qualify for free shipping when bought from Amazon.
